Thanks to Kathy Nichols for the connection between Mkh% and mh. Also thanks to Kathy Nichols for the following observations;

The other root word 2169 Hhmd – desire – wisdom is very much to be desired. Prov 8:11 For wisdom is better than jewels, and all desirable things cannot compare with her. 

Then another root 2172 Hhms (shake and violence) these words seem to inidicate primarily violence as a consequence of sin eg Ez 22:26 ..have violated my law…have put no difference between the holy and the profane…..

Lastly, 2173 Hhmts – Sour  also from the ChM root – the idea of processing, discerning and distinguishing.  Leaven having to do with sin. In Psalm 73:21 Thus my heart was grieved (chamets), and I was pricked (shanan) in my reigns.  The simile to chemets is shanan which is about being sharpened (which you have so well explained!!)
