Labash (To clothe)
From the BSh root meaning “shame”. Also a drying up of a land. Lamed meaning authority as well as protection. “authority/protection over shame”. When we are covered we are no longer ashamed of our nakedness. and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble 1 Peter 5:5. Clothing ourselves with humility becomes our protection and God becomes our authority. Another way of looking at Labash is “yoke of shame” the lamed also being a yoke. Jesus said “take my yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am meek and lowly of heart…” Jesus humbled Himself even to death, bearing the ultimate “yoke of shame” for us. With that, He gained all authority!
