Zakar (To Remember)
Strongs 2142 - to mark, so as to be recognized ie to remember. “clarity from the beginning?” from the root ZK – Glass ? God remembers His covenant – Gen 9:15; Jer 31:34 – The new covenant promise is “I will forgive their iniquity and I will remember their sin no more”. To remember also means to “retain in thought”. As we live retaining the covenant of our God in our thoughts and therefore our actions, we are pure in God’s eyes as we will walk how He wants us to walk. Luke 22:19 “this is My body which is given for you, do this in remembrance of Me…This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood”. The zayin representing food – bread and wine – symbols of covenant. The kaph representing the palm of the hand and a cup – Jesus ushering in the new covenant – “do this in remembrance of Me.”
