Sheba (Queen of Sheba - "returning in strenth")
Sheba is originally mentioned in scripture as a grandson of Eber, and an Arabian patriarch (Strongs 7614 son of Joctan). We are probably most familiar with the Queen of Sheba who Jesus spoke of in Math 12:42. She travelled a great distance, from the vicinity of Yemen to Jerusalem, with a huge train of goods. (1 Kings 10) She appears to be the beginning of the gentiles coming to Solomon because of the fame of the Lord. This was around 950BC, so it would have taken many months carrying many sacks of spices, gold (120 talents) and precious stones. According to the Wikipedia, a talent of gold was roughly a person’s weight in gold! She certainly came in her strength. But for all she came with, nothing could compare with what she received from the Lord through Solomon. The Queen of Sheba will stand up at the judgement with Jesus’ generation and condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear (obey) the wisdom of Solomon….. Sheba was Arabian, yet it seems she “pressed to the tent” and returned to the faith of Abraham with great strength to the point of being a judge when Jesus returns. --Kathy Nichols
